Wine notes: 2005 Vincent Girardin Vosne-Romanée “Vieilles Vignes”
This was was lovely to drink. Very rich berries but delightfully rounded. A hint of sweetness in your mouth, a tinge of pepperiness in aroma. This had the richness that comes from well aged tannins but it was drinkable right out of the bottle.
PS: Off to Paris for a couple of weeks. Will be drinking more wines but not sommelier chosen. Let’s see what we manage to find on our own.
Wine notes: 2005 Vincent Girardin Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru “Les Vergelesses”
A pinot noir that tasted like a Cabernet Sauvignon blend. I think it is an expectation management problem. You don’t open a bottle of pinot expecting it to taste like Cab. Tannins are noticeable but not raw on the palate – very rich blackberry. Wasn’t thrilled.
